A quarter of the Google reviews for a property development company appear to be written by its staff.

The staff didn’t change their names when publishing their review.

A competition lawyer says they’re in breach of the Fair Trading Act by doing this.

Consumer NZ's Gemma Rasmussen told Andrew Dickens it's reasonable to assume that reviews are coming from standard consumers.

"If you are associated with the company, you work for them or you're receiving money, there's a conflict of interest to be then posting a positive review, and it's also fair to assume that the person reading the review wouldn’t think that you work for them."
