An economist says people need to consider their long term savings goals during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The advice when the markets first started to drop was to sit tight and don't touch your Kiwisaver, with the suggestion being that the drops will right themselves in the long run.

The issue no longer appears to be a short-term problem, with economist Cameron Bagrie calling it the biggest economic recession of our lifetime.
