The owner of a section that's become a makeshift camp for homeless people in Christchurch has defended letting them stay.
About six homeless men have taken over the vacant plot opposite the luxurious George Hotel and iconic Hagley Park.
The property is owned by renowned Christchurch surgeon Frank Frizelle, who is letting the homeless men remain.
He says he didn't invite them, but he has no problem with it.
