Covid-19 case numbers have hit a new high in the United Kingdom.

For daily cases of Covid-19, the UK has recorded 26,688 in the last 24 hours. 191 people have also died.

That is a 25 per cent increase on the previous day, and weekly deaths are up 57 per cent on the previous week.

There are warnings that there could be tens of thousands of deaths as part of the second wave.

UK correspondent Enda Brady told Heather du Plessis-Allan as a result, the Government is making a number of lockdown-related moves.

"Some countries are going into full lowdown such as Wales... and we've got situations like in England where we've got this tiered system.

"We're in for a very difficult winter."

Meanwhile, a group of students have been handed a huge fine for hosting a house party.

Students in Nottingham, which has the highest infectious rate in England, ignored rules and threw a party, which resulted in an on-the-spot 40,000 pound fine.

"The Police asked had everyone left the property and the students who rented the pace said yes they have. Police didn't believe, they searched the bathrooms they searched the bedrooms upstairs and guess what... they found another 30 people."
