It's Maori language week. But language can't be learnt in a week. Dr Rapata Wiri says it takes several years to become proficient.
Currently 4% of New Zealanders speak fluent Te Reo. Wiri says if we don't get to a million speakers in the next 20 years it will become almost impossible for New Zealand to become bilingual.
