Disappointment there were no vaccination targets set for Maori and Pasifika in the new Covid-19 framework.

Moving to the new traffic light system requires DHBs to hit a 90 per cent full-vaccination target.

Auckland University Public Health Associate Professor Collin Tukuitonga told Andrew Dickens Maori and Pasifika may slip further behind other ethnic groups when it comes to vaccine uptake.

“Maori, if you look at the figures, are the lowest in all of New Zealand. In other words, it’s going to take a whole lot more effort and a whole lot more time to get them even close to 90 per cent.”
