New Zealand rugby has confirmed Super Rugby's six kiwi sides will shift to Queenstown for the opening weeks of the new season as Omicron closes in. 

As it stands, the sides will be based in Queenstown for the first three rounds of competition and will all have arrived by early next week. 

Day matches will be played in Queenstown, while teams will bus to and from Rugby Park in Invercargill for night matches.
