New Zealand's border will begin to reopen from later this month.  

Double-jabbed Kiwi travellers will be able to skip MIQ and return from Australia from February 28 – instead doing self-isolation. 

Those further abroad will be able to do the same, two weeks later. 

Covid Response Minister Chris Hipkins told Heather du Plessis-Allan he expects we will eventually get to the point where Covid becomes more 'normal'. 

He says it's encouraging to know Omicron is milder than Delta. 

“We could all hope that that’s the path the virus continues to go down, and that future mutations become, you know, even if more infectious, become less dangerous.”
