The Covid-19 Response Minister says they'll looking at all options to reduce risk from India, including checking their pre-departure tests.

Jacinda Ardern's announced a two-week ban on flights from the country from 4pm this Sunday.

There have been 146 new Covid cases in MIQ since the start of March - 94 of them in returnees from India.

Chris Hipkins told Heather du Plessis-Allan they'll be looking at the quality of testing in India.

"The advice that I've had so far is there isn't a problem with the validity of the tests, so it might be the length of time they are getting the tests before they leave."
