Auction house Webbs have been forced to move 44 classic cars out of ASB Showgrounds, after the venue went into liquidation last night.
The cars were due to be auctioned off at the Showgrounds this Sunday, but the event has had to be postponed.
The Showgrounds have been struggling financially since before the pandemic and the board have made the decision to voluntarily liquidate.
Head of collectors' cars for Webbs Caolan McAleer told Heather du Plessis-Allan that he was pretty shocked and dumbfounded when they heard what had happened.
"We worked tirelessly today to move [the cars] off site and into secure storage."
He says they will definitely make the event happen in some degree at a different site.
