Vaccine rules might be a bit of a party-pooper for anyone hosting a party from Friday. 

Hosts can invite up to 100 vaccinated people, but they'll be legally obligated to check vaccine passports. 

And Health Minister Andrew Little has made it clear that hosts could be liable for an infringement if they’re the source of an outbreak and if those rules haven’t been enforced. 

Retiring Auckland University Law Professor Bill Hodge told Heather du Plessis-Allan the rules are over the top.  

"Police have considerable powers under this Covid legislation." 

They have power to enter a private residence as well as businesses.
