Transport Minister Michael Wood is facing widespread criticism over failing to declare his shares in Auckland Airport.

Prime Minitser Chris Hipkins has stood Michael Wood down effective immediately, while any conflict of interest over his Auckland Airport shares is resolved. 

ZB's senior political correspondent Barry Soper says Michael Wood has taken decisions that could amount to a conflict of interest.

Barry Soper says Michael Wood should also be stood down from his role as Minister for Auckland until this investigation is resolved.
