Vigilantes in Sandringham take to the streets to stop car thieves in the act

A group of vigilantes have taken to the streets of Sandringham in Auckland in order to stamp out a spate car thefts and break ins.

Fed up with the crime in the area, the group of men now patrol the streets at night, Looking to catch someone in the act.

Their patrols have the end goal of changing their ways.

One of the group members, known as 'B', told Andrew Dickens that they have been doing this for several months.

"You only have to walk around at night and you will see the spate of break ins, especially the vehicles.

"You've got people's cars getting broken into on a nightly process, and it's too much for the Police to handle."
