Some good news to come out of Covid-19.

The teacher shortage is easing here due to people coming back from overseas, and other jobs being less secure.

School teachers are the biggest returning profession.

Secondary Principals' Association Vice President Vaughan Couillault told Kate Hawkesby there's been a history of school teachers getting a few years' experience then going off to do their OE.

But he says it's becoming an attractive profession again.

"A number of his staff have partners who used to be teachers, who are re-registering, dusting of their certification and getting back into it.
