The gold mining town of Waihi is divided over the upcoming School Strike 4 Climate.

Students from the Hauraki settlement will take to the streets along with thousands of other children across the nation tomorrow.

Waihi ward chairman Max McLean, a retired teacher, told Kate Hawkesby the strike is a stupid waste of time however not everyone agrees.
