The debate over whether Netflix hit The Crown should have some kind of factual disclaimer has taken another turn.
Helena Bonham Carter, the actress who plays Princess Margaret in the latest series, has told the series' official podcast that there's an important distinction between "our version" and the "real version".
it comes hot on the heels of the UK Culture Secretary saying he'll write Netflix to ask that a disclaimer is put up before the show so viewers don't misinterpret the portrayal as historical truth.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier told Kate Hawkesby that Bonham Carter is the first actor to come out and say thisÂ
"The problem is where is some of the previous seasons of The Crown were dealing with fairly historic events, we're talking today about people who are very much alive asides from Princess Diana."Â
Dampier says that Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, is receiving death threats over the way she is portrayed in the story.
He says one of the issues is that many younger generations who weren't around in the 1980s don't know a lot of the facts.
"I think it's unfair on everyone really to make this seem to be truthful."
