It remains to be seen whether putting Nigel Haworth's head on a plate will do anything to resolve the Labour party sex assault scandal.

The party's president has resigned, following the saga that begun after a 19-year-old volunteer came forward with allegations against a staff member.

A Queen's Counsel has been brought in to investigate.

Former Cabinet Minister Peter Dunne told Kate Hawkesby Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern needs to take decisive action.

Dunne says it's a mix of incompetence and a cover-up.

"There was initially a cover-up to protect everyone involved from adverse publicity and consequences.

"It then became more muddled - and now they're in a situation where the complainants haven't had justice."
