With the trans-Tasman bubble now locked in, Kiwifruit Growers Incorporated has its eyes set on the next move.
Chief executive Nikki Johnson wants the rules changed, so seasonal workers can get in and out of New Zealand.
She says the fact the bubble won't free up many managed isolation spaces means the need for seasonal workers will have passed, by the time they can get here.
Johnson told Kate Hawkesby we need a system that recognises the low risk seasonal workers present, often coming from the Pacific Islands.
She says they're focused on seeing things improve before summer work.
"That could include accepting vaccination as a risk management strategy or having them isolate outside of MIQ facilities.
