The Government is being accused of moving too slowly in several parts of its coronavirus response.
Health Minister Chris Hipkins is urging everyone to keep face masks in their emergency kits at home, in case of a move back to Alert Level two.
Otago University public health expert Nick Wilson told Kate Hawkesby he and his colleagues have been recommending masks for three months now and the WHO has been saying it for two.
"It's another reason we need an official enquiry to make sure the Government is doing a state of the art job."
Nick Wilson also says the government should be testing a lot more things when it comes to contact tracing.
Wilson says the government needs to be testing a lot of different things.
"They need to learn from the Apple and Google apps being used in Europe -- and have a look at how well South Korea has used Telecom's data to control large scale outbreaks."
