The Prime Minister has committed to keeping our defences force in the Middle East while the Government considers its future commitments.

National Defence spokesperson Mark Mitchell says this is the right call.

"This is definitely what I would have been recommending to Cabinet had we [National] been in Government."

"I think it's important, number one, because we do have a role to play in terms of global threats like ISIS and, number two, I think it's important to support our coalition partners."
