Trade unions in Britain are raising concern about the number of employers considering micro-chipping their staff.
They are worried that workers will be pressured into getting the electronic chips, with the technology then be used to micro-manage them.
However, Tui Nordic, a tourism company in Scandinavia, has successfully embraced the idea and already has 20 per cent of its staff tagged.
Head of Communication Magnus Huttenberend told Kate Hawkesby that it Is not mandatory.
He says that people can programme their own chip and can use it however they wish, and that is mostly for the employees.
“The standard we put on them is the employee ID, so you can get into the office. You can pay for your lunch with it.”
Huttenberend says that it doesn’t track the employees.
