Hatred of women could be taken into account by judges in the UK, and lead to tougher punishments.
Misogyny won't be an actual crime in itself but Nottingham City Councillor, Linda Woodings, says the aim of the campaign is to make it an aggravating factor of all criminal offences.
She told Tim Dower people already receive higher sentences for religiously or racially motivated crimes.
"The hope is that we can make any crime which is motivated by a hatred of women will be classified as misogyny aggravated."
Woodings says it would lead to higher sentences than you would normally receive.
