The New South Wales government is giving every adult $100 to spend on hospitality and entertainment.

The package, which costs $500 million, is given in four lots of $25 to encourage spending it around multiple businesses.

You get the money digitally if you're signed into their Covid app, and can't spend it on alcohol, tobacco, or gambling.

CEO of Hospitality NZ, Julie White told Kate Hawkesby it's a great idea and would like to see it happen here in New Zealand as well.

"It can stimulate the economy in specific regions very quickly. It not only helps businesses, but consumers as well."
