New technology has revealed the volume of hateful tweets sent to female election candidates in New Zealand.
Tech start-up Areto Labs, has officially launched a New Zealand version of the ParityBOT, a twitter bot that classifies hateful tweets sent to women and posts positive tweets in response.
Creative technologist Jacqueline Comer told Kate Hawkesby says it's disappointing to see how much online abuse female politicians face.
"We originally set the bot to 80 percent likely that a tweet will be toxic, but found that was too low and sadly have increased it to 90 percent."
Comer says this is a positive way to raise awareness about the issues women face, when campaigning online.
