Schools are running out of time to have every primary school teacher trained up on a new digital curriculum.
The programme will be compulsory from January for years one to ten and will include teaching children basic computer coding.
Auckland Primary Principals Association president Heath McNeil told Kate Hawkesby professional development was only offered late last year, over a year after the new curriculum was announced.
He says that limits the time schools have to build capability with every teacher in every classroom across the country.
“The programme is important but there needs to be a systemic plan to implement it.
“That includes lifting capability and giving schools time to carry out professional development.
