Confidence from one group of retailers that 'cowboy clampers' could soon be a thing of the past.

The Government's announced new laws that will see motorists pay a maximum of $100 to get the clamps removed - stopping short of a full ban.

Dominion Road Business Association manager Gary Holmes told Kate Hawkesby he's almost certain the Bill will pass through Parliament.

"I think it's an issue that's a long time coming and I understand there is wide support for it so I am certainly hopeful that parliament will support it and pass that bill."
