Psychologist: Parents revert back to how they were treated as kids

So here's a question: do you still smack your kids?

Data from Otago University's renowned longitudinal study shows around 40% of us are.

That's despite the anti-smacking legislation that was passed nearly fifteen years ago.

Psychologist Dr Dougal Sutherland told Tim Dower there's a huge gap in parent learning, so we usually revert to how we were treated as kids.

“We never really get any practice or any tuition or any expert advice on managing normal child behaviours.”
