The street price of meth is plunging, but it's not for a lack of demand.
Massey University research shows the median price for a gram of meth is down to a record low of $450 per gram in Auckland, Waikato and Wellington.
Drug educator at Methcon, Dale Kirk told Kate Hawkesby there have been record seizures at the border this year, which was expected to send the price up.
He says the falling price suggests a lot of the drug is going under the radar.
"The number of convictions in district courts shows meth has spread throughout the country."
