Doctors are urging the Ministry of Health to make sure there are enough flu jabs to go around everyone.
People over 65 can be vaccinated from today, but everyone else will have to wait another month or so.
There were problems with accessing influenza vaccinations last year because of Covid-19.
College of GPs medical director Bryan Betty told Kate Hawkesby the ministry's over-ordered this year, so last year's problems aren't repeated.
“We have been very blunt with the ministry that it must do everything it can to ensure there's enough flu vaccine for all.”
Betty told Kate Hawkesby the flu vaccination is still around, for a reason.
He says four to five hundred people a year die of the disease if there's a significant season, so it's very important to get the jab.
