Barry Soper on the latest poll, debate as campaigning wraps up

The final day of campaigning before the election has seen a surprising admission from Jacinda Ardern.

She has confirmed she will quit unless Labour's voted back in to Government.

The Prime Minister made the comment during the final leaders' debate last night with National leader Judith Collins

Newstalk ZB political commentator Barry Soper told Kate Hawkesby she was being honest.

"Saying that there is only one job for her now, and that is Prime Minister."

That seems unlikely, though, with a new poll suggesting it will be a Labour-Green government after election day.

The latest Ones News Colmar Brunton Poll has Labour down one per cent to 46 and National down one to 31 per cent.

The Green Party's up two per cent to eight - it's highest polling level since 2017, and sitting in line with ACT.

New Zealand First is up to three per cent.

Soper says Peters doesn't look as though he'll be returned to Parliament, but he should never be counted out.

"The last three polls he picked up one percent point - that did put him on a miserable three percent, but that's getting close."
