
Domestic travel prices aren't likely to rise considerably when Australian tourists return to our shores.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern yesterday announced New Zealand will open to quarantine-free travel with Australia on April 19.
Tourism pricing expert Andrew Pascoe told Kate Hawkesby New Zealand operators will still depend primarily on domestic travellers.
"Operators are gonna take a wait and see approach to this bubble coming back. The domestic market has been a market that operators want to protect."
He expects to see increased demand, and some pressure in particular pockets that are popular with tourists.
