A song performed by Keala Settle, a US woman of Maori descent, has been nominated for a gong.

'This is Me' from The Greatest Showman has already taken home the Golden Globe for best original song.

The singer told Kate Hawkesby it's thrilling to be up for an Oscar but performing the emotional song has become draining.

"It's terrible every single time because I connect and resonate with that song so much, as much as I'm grateful for it, it's still a reminder that we are so vulnerable."
