A push for intensive intervention for more Kiwi students.
A nationwide maths trial for Year 7 and 8 students needing extra support - has found participants averaged one to two years’ progress.
Fifteen-hundred students, at least a year behind in maths, received targeted small-group tutoring up to four times a week.
PPTA President Chris Abercrombie told Ryan Bridge the trial now needs to be rolled out to more year levels.
He says intensive intervention works for young people, through one-on-one time and small group tutoring.
