Typhoon Vongfong, heading on its destructive path toward the Japanese mainland, has powered into the island of Okinawa.
Meteorologist Jim Andrews says it's the strongest tropical cyclone of the year.
It's packing rain and high winds and has been classified as a super typhoon, and has reached category five hurricane status.
Vongfong means wasp in Cantonese.
