A nickel refinery owned by the Australian businessman turned politician Clive Palmer, has reportedly dumped toxic sludge near the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
The waste was released from Queensland Nickel's storage dams, posing a serious risk to the fragile reef.
Poor maintenance is blamed.
The company is facing fines which could run to more than six million dollars.
