A 31-year old Tunisian truck driver drove into crowds on the waterfront gathered for a Bastille Day fireworks display.
Among those arrested include the truck driver Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhel’s ex-wife, ABC News reports.
Sources say the arrests are connected with the attacker's "close entourage" and were made in two different areas of Nice.
The Isis-affiliated Amaq News Agency said the Nice attack had been carried out by one of its “soldiers”.
The attack occurred after calls to Isis supporters to attack those living in countries involved in the multi-national coalition involved in the war on terror, it said.
