The sale of more than a dozen pieces of WW2 Nazi memorabilia, including a portrait of Hitler, at a regional New South Wales auction has drawn criticism from Australia's Jewish community.
The auction in Bredbo today also features Nazi medals, helmets, and jewellery.
Spokesman for the auction company Don Mahoney defended the sale of the items, saying they formed a small part of a large sale of military items.
"There are some Australian politicians which were were known to collect Nazi memorabilia."
He said he can't mention names, but people would be shocked and he has sold Nazi memorabilia to solicitors, bank managers, accountants, and politicians.
