Result of Bali Nine appeal hard to predict

Lawyers for the two Bali Nine members on death row say it is really hard to guess whether the pair will win an appeal.

A Jakarta court will today make the decision on whether it will allow Australians Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan to challenge a ruling to deny them clemency.

Lawyer Peter Morrisey, who is part of their legal team, admits it has been nerve wracking to wait.

"We hope to win, and if we win the case goes back downstairs to the next court and they'll have a real look (at the case)...If we lose then we'll have to consider other options, I think."

The appeal is unusual in the state administrative court. AAP reports this is likely to be the pair's last legal avenue to avoid the firing squad for their role in a heroin smuggling bid.

But Morrisey claims there are other avenues they can look at to try to spare the men's lives.

"There have been some pretty serious, substantial allegations made of trouble and corruption early on in this case, and the judicial commission will look at that properly. It's just completely unimaginable that they would proceed to execute the two boys while that process is going ahead."

Morrisey admits that it is hard to predict what today's result will be.

"In the day-to-day sense they're being appropriately cared for in the prison, they're getting their visits, they're holding up they're being lovely to their community - both their legal community and of course their family...they're doing as well as they can be."
