The technique used by cricket players to psych each other out is under the spotlight in Sydney.

The inquest into Phillip Hughes' death has heard claims New South Wales fast bowler Doug Bollinger said "I'm going to kill you" to Hughes.

The alleged encounter happened on the same day he was fatally injured at the Sydney Cricket Ground in November 2014.

Bollinger has denied the 'sledging'.

Australian correspondent Donna Demaio told Andrew Dickens the inquest will now focus on the nature of play, and whether it contributed to his death.

"Very distressing for the family especially to hear about the sledging. They had actually gone to police previously and realised concerns over these alleged sledges."
