Former US President Barack Obama's visit to New Zealand cost taxpayers just under $32,000 despite the lack of opportunities for the public to see him.
During President Obama's three-day visit in March, the Government covered the cost of Crown cars and media staff.
The cost are outlined in documents released to Stuff by the Department of Internal Affairs.
A powhiri at Government House was the only event open to media, and there were no opportunities for the wider public to see President Obama.
His appearance fees and other costs were covered by sponsors.
The value of the trip was said to come from the President's tweets about his visit, but so far there have been none.
