A man who says he's part of the so-called Lizard Squad who brought down gaming networks over Christmas, has gone public this morning.

Using the name Ryan, he says the attack, which stopped X-Box and Playstation, was designed to expose their security flaws.

He says it took only three people to bring them to a halt.

"One of the big aspects here was raining awareness regarding the low state of computer security at these companies.

"Because these companies make tens of millions."
