Erin Patterson was charged with murdering her estranged husband Simon’s parents Don and Gail Patterson, as well as Gail’s sister Heather Wilkinson, at a dinner party she hosted in July 2023.

The mother of two was also charged with the attempted murder of a fourth person, Wilkinson’s husband Ian.

Patterson pleaded not guilty to murdering the trio and not guilty to attempted murder.

The 50 year old made a beef wellington that contained death cap mushrooms.

The prosecution’s case accused Patterson, from Leongatha in the southeast of the Australian state of Victoria, of deliberately poisoning her guests with the deadly fungi.

Her defence argued the case was a tragic accident.

Patterson did not react as the verdict was handed down.
