King Richard III might well have lost his kingdom for a horse.

New research shows the reviled king was killed after he abandoned his horse when it got stuck in a marsh following the Battle of Bosworth Field.

Computer scans of his skeleton shows he was probably in quite a lot of pain at the end.

Richard most likely suffered injuries from daggers, swords and a long metal pole with an axe and hook.
