Australia has the Big Banana and the Big Pineapple and may soon have the Big Bogan.

The New South Wales town of Nyngan wants to erect a 3.6 metre rust iron statue of a Stubbie shorts-wearing, mullet rocking Aussie bloke with an esky.

The local Anglican Minister came up with the idea and it's expected to cost around $8000.

Nyngan is the capital of an area known as Bogan Shire. 

It is expected the statue will be a big draw for tourists, however the Council have promised to not go ahead with it unless the local community supports it.
