A move to bring Lime scooters to Wellington is being met with hesitation from city councillors.
The US-based company is considering extending its electric scooter offering from Christchurch and Auckland to the capital.
Council's transport portfolio leader Chris Calvi-Freeman says he tried one yesterday and it was a lot of fun.
"They're fairly harmless when used carefully, but there's always going to be the minority of people and the minority of situations where there could be conflict."
Councillor Brian Dawson says footpaths are for feet first and foremost.
He says it'll take some convincing for him to say yes to the e-scooters.
Councillor Iona Pannett says vehicles on footpaths undermine the rights of walkers, the disabled, children and the elderly to move around the city safely.
