Greater Wellington Regional Council's CEO is clearing his timetable to focus exclusively on the city's troubled bus network.
Greg Campbell will spend the next four to eight weeks on the issue effective from today.
A second in command will be appointed to look after things in his absence.
It follows weeks of problems with overcrowding, ghost buses and route changes.
Councillor Daran Ponter says his colleagues have agreed the significance of the bus issues warrants the chief executive making public transport his only priority.
"We want to make sure that we put our top person focused on fixing those issues in the coming weeks."
He says that the significance of the issues warrants Campbell making public transport his number one and only priority.
