Wellington's new and improved Cenotaph is on show from today.

Councillor Andy Foster says it's great to see it opened out and linked directly to parliament.

He says while the National War Memorial across town is significant to all New Zealanders, the Cenotaph is Wellington's place of commemoration.

The Cenotaph will be officially blessed on April 17, exactly 83-years after its original opening ceremony.
