Search life-savers in the Coromandel may have a tough time doing their job this Christmas after a series of thefts in the last month.
In the latest incident, solar panels have been stolen from the emergency radio network site on the Whangamata peninsula.
Earlier this month a pair of quad bikes, newly installed radio equipment, a rescue board and some first aid gear were also stolen from Pukehina Surf Rescue.
Surf Life Saving New Zealand Lifesaving manager Allan Mundy says the theft is devastating.
He says it will severely compromise their lifeguard operations over the Christmas holidays.
