A staggering $30 million will be needed to repair the Far North's storm-damaged roads.

Around 300 slips were recorded on the region's roads during last month's heavy rainfall, with many roads still closed.

Far North Mayor, John Carter says Northland roads are sub-standard compared with the rest of the country.

Mr Carter says the council plans to put a case forward to the New Zealand Transport Agency and the Government to receive a much needed funding boost.
