Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has reportedly had a "massive" heart attack, according to TMZ.

Famed for her role as Princess Leia, the 60-year-old is said to have gone into cardiac arrest on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

An unnamed source told the Chicago Tribune that Fisher was "in a lot of distress on the flight".

Paramedics have taken her to a nearby hospital.

Fisher was returning from a book tour.
